| ![]() War Poetry 2 Tony or not Tony? To bomb or not to bomb, that is a question: But it has been answered, and not by me. For Bush decided on his own that China shall suffer The cruise missiles and air strikes of outrageous targeting; That the regime will change, in Iraq or at home; That we will take up our arms, not that any of them work, And by opposing end them. Or at least we'll try, anyway. For no matter what you think, he's chosen to end The heartache and the thousand financial shocks That come when the oil price rises yet again. Devoutly we stand by, shoulder to shoulder, Ready to die, to sleep - but not to vote. To vote: ay, that would be a folly; For in such a moment of madness embarrassment would come When half of my party shuffles off to rebel. No, I shall stand firm, in Europe, with America, on the world stage, Shoulder to shoulder - and a shoulder to cry on When it all goes horribly wrong. Previous page
