At last, someone who doesn't want to buy Safeway
25 Jan 2003
Reader Clive Beresford has emailed us with a surprising update to Wednesday's story about the buying of supermarket chain Safeway. According to Mr Beresford his mother, Mrs Audrey Beresford of Bolsover in Derbyshire, does not want to buy Safeway – making her almost unique in the whole of Britain. Commenting on Mr Beresford's revelation, the Foreign Secretary, Jack Straw, said he was unimpressed that Mrs Beresford was not interested. Mumbling under his breath to a cabinet colleague, he said: "I'm unimpressed".
How cool is this?
