In Brief: Fault takes satire site offline
The popular news satire web site "DeadBrain" was unavailable for much of the day yesterday following a severe technical fault. According to the webmaster, Douglas Ramsbottom, a power outage caused a hard drive failure, taking the web site offline. "We apologise sincerely for any inconvenience caused and we assure our visitors that steps have been put in place to stop this from happening again," Mr Ramsbottom said. "The person responsible for putting coins in the meter has been disciplined."

Headmistress spent £7,000 on school equipment, under investigation
A headmistress is tonight under police investigation after it was revealed that she spent over £7,000 on essential school equipment. The unnamed school boss apparently managed to scrape together the money to buy things like pencils and books for her pupils, but the local education authority is unconvinced. "We don't know where she got the money from but it wasn't from us," a spokesman for the East Riding of Yorkshire local education authority said. "Given the funding crisis hitting schools and the lack of fundraising done at this school we find it unlikely that this head teacher got the money through legitimate means. We had no option but to call in the police."

Humberside Police said they would be examining the school's accounts carefully.

In Brief: Public trust satire site more than government
A new survey about the public's trust in different organisations has revealed that more people trust the news satire web site "DeadBrain" on political matters, the Iraq war and in the general news category than they do the government. "This shows just how desperate the situation regarding trust has become for the government," said Douglas Ramsbottom of MORIORLESSI. "But more importantly, it shows just how gullible 44% of the population are in believing some crappy satire site. How stupid are they?"

A spokesman for DeadBrain said that the figure was in fact closer to 90% and added that people were willing to believe the web site over any other source of information in "under 45 minutes".

Wow, look at this!
