  Row over Blair letter
A new row was brewing in the government today after it was revealed that the Prime Minister, Tony Blair, had written to the Romanian Prime Minister recommending acclaimed news satire website "DeadBrain" to take over his country's steelworks. The Romanian PM, whose name is unlikely to be recognised by anyone in this country and therefore will not be mentioned, was said to be "surprised" at the recommendation.

Mr Blair's letter has attracted criticism from all sides. DeadBrain, a company which has no representation in the Dutch Antilles but does employ fewer than 100 British workers, has several other UK-based competitors who have not had letters written in their favour. They were said to be "bloody annoyed" with the Prime Minister. Meanwhile, the Conservatives and the Liberal Democrats have called for an inquiry into the whole affair.

Labour MPs have also spoken out against Mr Blair's letter. One MP told DeadBrain, "I find it appalling that the Prime Minister could write such a letter! He hasn't even got us any money out of it!" DeadBrain's Chief Scapegoat, Gregory T Mittal, has been reluctant to speak about the letter, but he did manage to spare a few words for us.

"I am extremely confused about the issue," he said through an interpreter. "I have not given any money to the Labour Party so I find it inconceivable that they could have done anything for me. And as for taking over a steel industry… we're a news satire website for goodness sake. What do we know about steel? It's like putting Stephen Byers in charge of the railways!"
