  Announcements "a joke"
An embarrassed spokesman for news satire website DeadBrain today admitted that "at least some" of what he said on Monday was in fact an April Fool's prank. "Yeah it was a joke, and not a very good one at that," Dr Gregory T Mullet told a bewildered reporter from BBC News Online who had turned up to interview footballer Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

"Who on earth would be stupid enough to believe that we had joined the Lib Dems? That's just ridiculous," he continued as the reporter made his excuses and left. Then, with a tear in his eye, he said: "OK, and the thing about moving to Wetwang was a joke as well. I'm...sorry."

A passing fan of DeadBrain who recognised the spokesman by a worrying coincidence, continued to pass and asked not to be named as Sam Hastings "in case the papers found out". Meanwhile, the BBC reporter (who by sheer fluke had also come across DeadBrain, this time in his hunt for a porn site) came back after discovering his car had gone missing. Speaking in a hushed voice, he asked Dr Mullet if his final announcement about Ann Widdecombe was also a joke.

"Don't be ridiculous!" Dr Mullet shouted as he stood up, revealing a T-shirt with a picture of the Tory MP on it. "My love of the bearded one is no joke," he added as he stalked out of the room holding a bunch of keys and a bronze statuette of Ms Widdecombe.

Hey, look at this!
