Ownership Talks Begin

Representatives of the government of Norway were in talks with the Prime Minister in Downing Street today about the future of a city in Yorkshire. For hundreds of years, Norway has claimed that the city of York rightfully belongs to her, and the British government should hand it back.
Bespectacled and overexcited historian Professor Gregory T Mullet supports Norway's claim. "The evidence is clear," he told the member of DeadBrain's staff who drew the shortest straw. "York is and always has been a Viking city. We should surrender it right away!"
It is unclear what the Norwegian government intends to do if it does reclaim York. Some have suggested that engineers may be despatched to dig up the city and transport it back across the North Sea, but early investigation showed that the city's foundations are "too deep".
Unsurprisingly, people living in York dispute the claim. "We don't want to be Norwegian," said a disgusted local councillor. "For a start, Norway's even colder than it is here. We're perfectly happy where we are!"
