There was further controversy at the Commonwealth Games tonight after tests carried out on several British athletes came back positive. At a press conference this afternoon, officials from the Commonwealth Games Federation told journalists of the surprise results.
"This is deeply disturbing," said a spokesman. "Our scientists found traces of three performance-indicating substances – gold, silver and bronze - in 21 English athletes alone. We will now carry out tests on more of the athletes to catch these disgraces to the British sporting tradition."
Experts fear that the governing body may find many more British athletes with the banned substances. "Oh yeah, once one starts they'll all be at it," sniggered Australian commentator Douglas Ramsbottom. "At least our boys and girls are always clean."
