| | ITV pulls plug on Barrymore
20 Sep 2002
ITV pulled the plug on Michael Barrymore today, it was announced. A spokesman for the channel told journalists that the entertainer had been "connected to the mains for at least two days, but we only noticed this morning."
Dr Gregory T Mullet, a leading psychiatrist, called Mr Barrymore's actions "a cry for help". "The evidence is there," he told our man on the couch. "In fact, I've seen eyewitness reports that he really was crying for help. I can't think why anyone would ignore him."
Non-swimmer Barrymore, who has a large swimming pool at his luxury home, was recently called to give evidence after a man was found dead at one of his parties. A spokesman for the disgraced entertainer said this evening that Mr Barrymore has no plans to resume his electric shock therapy, which he described as "painful", nor his writing career, after his book was dumped by the BBC, or his TV career, after he was dumped by ITV, and may now take up work as either a columnist for a tabloid newspaper or a presenter on Channel 5.
Go on, have a look at this...
