Dubya's War

Government publishes dossier of evidence on Bush
The government published a dossier of evidence against President Bush today, as his long-running campaign to fight a war with Iraq progressed further still. The 50-page dossier contains evidence about Bush's military muscle, his political power and his use of the Oval Office for Clinton-style "extra-curricular activities". However, since most of the information comes from intelligence sources, much of it is unsubstantiated for fear that agents' positions could be compromised.

Comment on the dossier has come from all directions. In an emergency Commons debate today, the Prime Minister said that the "policy of containment" towards Bush had not worked, and that the international community will "have to act". In contrast, the Conservative Leader, Iain Duncan Smith, backed Mr Bush, saying that he was right to want to attack Iraq, adding, "let's get the bastard". Charles Kennedy, for the Liberal Democrats, meanwhile urged for a peaceful solution, "perhaps involving proportional representation or cannabis".

Outside Westminster, the general public has reacted with anger, relief, total apathy and "sometimes all three". Douglas Ramsbottom, an attractive young waitress and occasional student from Oxford, told DeadBrain that he "broadly agreed" with the need to hurl insults at Bush. "I can see your point," he told our man with the cream doughnut. "Bush is quite a humorous guy. I don't see any problem with you faking a dossier of evidence against him. It might get one or two laughs."

Others weren't as enthusiastic. "Leave the poor guy alone," moaned a pensioner hanging out her washing in Chester. "He's never done anything to you. It's not his fault he's from Texas."

A spokesman for the President has denounced the document as "appallingly accurate", while Iraqi sources were too busy hiding their weapons to comment.
