Dubya's War

War build-up denied
The White House today denied that the US military is building up to a war on Iraq. Speculation had been rife that last night's air strikes by British and American planes were in preparation for a wider conflict, but spokesman Ari Fleischer quashed the rumours in a press conference this afternoon.

"This is not war, we're not heading towards a war," he reassured journalists. "We're just bombing a foreign country - there's nothing wrong with that. Call it target practice, we could probably do with a bit of that."

Meanwhile Tony Blair is to travel to America at the weekend to hold talks with President Bush. Officials on both sides of the Atlantic have rejected claims that the talks constitute council of war, as that would require discussion, which Dubya doesn't.
