UN condemns British treatment of children
There was fresh panic, overreaction and horror at the UK's treatment of children today following the publication of a new report. A document written by a UN committee on the rights of children expressed its "deep regret" that the UK still allows parents to physically discipline their children, and went on to criticise various other things ranging from teenage pregnancy rates to the "outrageous" size of lollipops.

The Home Office, however, has denied that the treatment of children in Britain is unfair. According to John Denham, children in the UK are "actually quite dangerous". "It's only right that parents should be able to smack their children," he said in an interview this afternoon. "All the evidence is that children are a clear and present danger to the country – they cry in supermarkets, they fall off swings, they draw in crayon on official government documents – I mean everyone knows only ministers are allowed to do that. Kids should count themselves lucky that smacking is all they get."

Leaks from the government suggest that it is now pressing for a Security Council resolution to allow it to deal with "rogue children" more effectively. Sources at the Ministry of Defence suggest that ministers are unhappy with the success of previous policies like the introduction of child curfews and would like to "take things further" – perhaps with military action. "After all," commented Saddam Hussein, a world expert on the poor treatment of children, "it never did me any harm."

Look at this, moron.
