IDS not to appear in Celeb Big Bro
The Conservative "leader", Iain Duncan Smith, this evening found out that he hadn't been chosen as one of this year's Celebrity Big Brother contestants. "Naturally Mr Duncan Smith is very disappointed that he hasn't been picked to take part in the programme," said a colleague. "He is well known for his charity work, particularly for the Conservative Party, and given his rising media profile we thought he would be an obvious choice. He has been waiting by the phone for the last three days just in case one of the others dropped out, but sadly it's not to be. The public don't know what they're missing out on."

The party has also denied that Mr Duncan Smith's eagerness to get into the House was an attempt to revive his flagging career. Previous contestants have all benefited from the exposure the programme brought, but a spokesman has said that was not Mr Duncan Smith's motivation for applying. According to Douglas Ramsbottom, the Tory "leader" only wanted to participate in order to help "vulnerable causes".

An alleged plot by Conservative MPs to keep Mr Duncan Smith off the public's screens so that he wouldn't embarrass them any further has meanwhile been denied unconvincingly.
