 Blair Pops Cherie
Cherie Blair became increasingly embattled last night as further revelations about her involvement with a man variously described as a "conman" and a "fraudster" were made public during a TV interview she had hoped would clear her name.

Attempting to respond to allegations originally made on December 5th by the Daily Mail about her business involvement with the alleged liar and crook, the barrister and mother of 3 was forced to make a humiliating U-turn. After several forceful questions, she eventually apologised for attempting to hide the true nature of her relationship with someone she had previously maintained was merely a "friend of a friend".

During the interview with Douglas Ramsbottom on John Craven's Newsround, Mrs Blair stated she had in fact had several business dealings with this gentleman, but that through the entire period that she had had "no idea about his dishonest behaviour".

"I certainly was not aware that he had made all these promises to cut NHS waiting lists, I must state that categorically," she said. "And furthermore, any alleged ‘dossiers of conclusive proof' designed to trick an entire nation into financing an imperialistic war against Iraq on the orders of his American warlords and crime bosses were things that we had never discussed."

However, startling revelations were made when Mrs Blair was asked whether the gentleman in question was in fact her husband. Mrs Blair was forced to admit that she had in fact entered into holy wedlock with Mr Blair. Significantly, until this point she had only admitted to having had e-mail contact with him. "Yes it's true," she sobbed. "We met at University and he promised me that one day he would be Prime Minister at the head of a socialist government. How stupid could I have been? If I'd have known then what I know now I would never have fallen for such an obvious grift."

The Downing Street Press Office was today doing its best to cover up the scandal, or in official parlance to "explain this situation in a satisfactory manner to the British public who deserve nothing less than the truth", and to knock out some hooky Rolexes for 25 sheets a-piece.

Hey, look at this!
