| | Bush refuses to send Kim Jong-il birthday card

There was disappointment in North Korea this morning after Kim Jong-il did not receive a birthday card from US President George W Bush. The communist leader, who has been celebrating his 61st birthday, had hoped to receive a card from Mr Bush as a sign of thawing relations between Washington and Pyongyang, but it seems that that particular birthday wish was unanswered.
"Kim Jong-il is, of course, very disappointed that he didn't receive a card from George Bush," said a spokesman. "It is also a little rude after he sent Mr Bush one last year, although that did contain anthrax."
In an off the record briefing last night a White House official told DeadBrain that President Bush has a policy of not sending cards to leaders of the Axis of Evil "or France", but that they had not ruled out dropping "lots of presents" from planes over the North Korean capital.
