Mothers of Sharon, Arafat scold sons publicly
In a rare public appearance, the mothers of Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and PLO leader Yasser Arafat held a press conference today to publicly scold their children over recent acts of violence in the Middle East.

"We don't care who started it, we're finishing it!" Ms. Sharon said angrily. Ms. Arafat echoed her comments by saying, "If you two boys can't play nice, we won't let you play at all!"

In keeping with their plea for non-violent solutions to the conflict, both mothers threatened to use a different kind of ammunition if their sons refused to put a stop to the violence. "No more dessert for you," Ms. Sharon warned. "And no friends coming over to the house, either! You'll be too busy cleaning leaves out of the gutters!"

Meanwhile, Ms. Arafat threatened to cut off her son's TV and Internet privileges, and to require him to clean all five bathrooms in their home twice weekly. "You'll think being stuck in your Ramallah compound was a cakewalk when I'm through with you," she said.

Both mothers expressed their grief for the families affected by recent suicide bombings, air strikes and assassination attempts. "Both of you need to stop it right this minute," Ms. Arafat warned. Raising her hand over her head, she added, "I have had it up to here with both of you."

Ms. Sharon was perhaps even more blunt on the subject. "Are you two deaf? Am I talking to the wall here? What's wrong with you two, that you won't listen to us?"

Excuse me, would you mind?
