| | Couple tries to set up Big Brother show in own house

A West Midlands couple were today warned by their district council that turning their property into a "Big Brother"-style game concept would not be acceptable and could ultimately lead to eviction if the plan is not scrapped. Gerry Binks, a retired riveter, and his partner, Jean Snouch, have been informed that their plan to convert the living room, kitchenette and part-converted attic space into a filmed "docusoap" arena would not be tolerated.
Divorcee Gerry told us how during a visit from his grandson, Jamaal, 9, he had caught 10 minutes of Channel 4's Big Brother television programme. "I don't normally watch TV," Gerry explained, "save for Bargain Hunt and Heartbeat, but young Jamaal loves this Big Brother thing and watching it with him I realised me and Jean could do better than that!"
This led to Jim hiring three mid-range video cameras and training them on the living room, kitchenette and attic area. In addition, six deck chairs will be erected in the garden for spectators who would pay a nominal entrance fee for a 20-minute block of "viewing time". Viewers are also encouraged to phone or text Gerry to ask how he is and what he has been doing all day.
An unnamed council source told DeadBrain: "This council would not support the conversion of any room or land plot into a game show-style arena and would view the footage of the part-converted attic area with scrutiny as to the standard of conversion from a health and safety perspective."
At the time of writing Gerry remains determined to move forward with his plans and added that a small regional chain of stationers may be interested in a media messaging sponsorship package if all parties can agree on image rights.
Oi, down here!
