McDonald's launches new "Mad Mac" burger 24 Dec 2003 Fast "food" chain McDonald's is to launch a new product in the wake of the BSE crisis in the United States. The new "Mad Mac" is to replace the popular Big Mac until the crisis is over. A press release described the Mad Mac as containing "100% American beef, plus juicy bread buns and delicious salad", which compares favourably with the traditional 5% beef, 95% "you don't want to know" mix in Big Macs. A spokesman for McDonald's told DeadBrain that the product was designed to show the burger chain's confidence in American beef. "We are totally behind American beef," he said, "so much so that we are putting more into the new Mad Mac than ever before. We're determined to beat this thing." The spokesman denied that the large disclaimer on boxes containing Mad Macs, which states that consumers eat the product at their own risk and that McDonald's will in no way be held responsible if they go stark raving bonkers, in any way undermined the company's support. When pressed on whether he himself would be eating the new Mad Mac, the spokesman replied that he was a vegetarian. McDonald's share price has meanwhile fallen by 4%. Related Articles Mad cow panic!
