New photo evidence of liquid on Mars

NASA scientists have published what they claim to be the first evidence of liquid on the surface of Mars, with photographs taken by the rover 'Spirit' appearing to show clear signs that liquid will be available for George "Skywalker" Bush's planned mission to Mars. Recently the European Space Agency and NASA have been arguing over who spotted water first, with the Europeans claiming that they "saw the sea as they came over the cliffs" and "are we nearly there yet?"

NASA, however, maintains that pictures like the one above show far more than just water. A spokesman confirmed: "We believe that our photographs show evidence of ethanol as well as water, which may be the product of a yeast-based organism. Also, with the surface temperature on Mars being lower than our own, it should be perfectly chilled."

Europeans are sceptical of the American claim, however. "Everyone knows beer should be warm," said Douglas Ramsbottom, the leader of the British team aiming to put the first bar on Pluto. "So far all these photographs just look like Australia. Any life there is sure to be primitive. Now then, has anyone seen my lander?"

Mr Ramsbottom later confirmed that there was unlikely to be intelligent life on Mars either.
