Denmark invades Iran

Denmark today officially declared war on Iran, Saudi Arabia and other Muslim countries as the row over satirical cartoons escalated to new heights.

Danish PM Anders Fogh Rasmussen said the move was 'regrettable but inevitable' and blamed Islamic extremists.

"The Danish people can understand the violent protests, deaths and arson attacks on our Embassies," he explained, "but we cannot ignore the insulting image of our flag being burned."

Thousands of Danish troops have been flown out to Iraq where it's believed they will use US bases to launch their strikes on the Islamic world.

"We must thank the Americans," Rasmussen continued. "If it hadn't been for them Iran might have nuclear weapons by now and we'd have been forced to sit at home, quietly fuming."

In a separate move, Scotland finally plucked up the courage to make its first incursions into England for hundreds of years. Early reports indicate they are still 'furious' about their portrayal in 'The Jocks and The Geordies' cartoon that ran in the Beano between 1980 and 1986.
