BREAKING BUDGET NEWS: No increase in the price of a Peerage22 Mar 2006 by Peter Gee
In his budget speech today, Chancellor Gordon Brown announced that he has frozen the price of a Peerage at £250,000, but that knighthoods will remain liable to both GAT (Gordon Added Take) and TAT (Tony Added Take).Chancellor Brown also announced that, for this year only, OBEs will be on special offer at: £10,000, 6 favours, or anything up to tenth place in any major national sporting competition. But there was some good news when he said that MBEs will still be given free to the poor and lower classes. Sir Greg Mullet, KCGB, OBE, MBE, KGB, Chairman of the company 'Government Contracts Are Us', said: "This is welcome news which means that I won't have to spend more than a tenth of my annual bonus next year on my well overdue peerage." DeadBrain's financial analyst Doug Ramsbottom has analysed this years budget's 'winners and losers', which include: Pensioners, Working Families, Single People - Losers Smokers – Losers Drinkers - Losers Drivers - Losers First Time Buyers – encouraged to work harder and earn 8 times their current salary Rich People – Winners – amount unknown as still counting Ambidextrous, self-employed, unicycling, juggling clowns – better off by £10 a year
